    PGC BASKETBALL DIRECTOR

From being an instructor for over 22 years and being a Master Training Specialist, Chad is the best instructor I have seen. He uses all of the theories, laws, and styles of learning to engage students successfully.

    – Michael Harrison, North Chicago, Illinois

Chad is an unbelievable person, teacher, and coach, and I am extremely grateful I had the opportunity to attend PGC. Chad inspired me to refocus my life, re-SCHAPE my habits, and live my life with passion and serve those around me. My week with Chad made me want to be a better man, better coach, better friend, and better son.

    – Coach James Hayden

I learned how to improve my game at PGC, and I also learned how to make my team better. Without this knowledge, I would not have been close to the level of a university basketball player. However, what is really special is how you made me a better person. Chad, you took a ball and a net and somehow changed the way I live and think. You changed the way I interact with others, myself and my environment. Through basketball you taught me life lessons. I will always cherish the time I spent on the court with you and I appreciate you giving me everything you had to offer.

    – Alex Petropolis, PGC Grad

Chad Songy first attended PGC as a high school player in 2002 and has been applying PGC’s principles to his life and career for two decades.

Chad was truly an efficient and versatile point guard at Millsaps College, where he was an SCAC All-Conference player and a 2009 Nominee for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, given to the best male point guard throughout all NCAA Divisions. However, after his junior year of high school, Chad didn’t have any college scholarships or interest.

As a 5’8″ point guard, Chad was often physically outmatched, but rarely outsmarted. The exceptional leadership skills Chad developed at PGC helped him to succeed as the starting point guard on Millsaps College’s most successful team in both school and conference history. The 2007-2008 Majors finished the season 28-4, losing to the eventual Division III national champions in the Elite Eight after Chad kept their magical season alive by hitting a buzzer-beating three-pointer to help his school reach the NCAA’s Sweet Sixteen.

Chad’s pursuit for excellence has never been confined solely to the court. A Magna Cum Laude graduate with a double major in Economics and Business Administration, he was selected twice by ESPN: The Magazine as an Academic-All Region Selection.

Chad is the founder of Sustainable Giving Homes which uses real estate profits from homes in Austin, TX, and Cape Town, South Africa, to fund educational opportunities for students throughout Africa, including PGC’s sponsorship of the MCF Sports Center in Kenya. He also teaches throughout the year through a variety of projects he founded that include stand up comedy, cultural growth experiences to Africa, and mentoring young leaders and entrepreneurs.

Chad is head of curriculum at PGC, a course director on the PGC tour and assists in PGC’s training of both Directors and Staff.

What They’re Saying About Chad Songy

"Chad is a great teacher Very skilled in teaching kids the skills in shooting. I wish I could hire him to work with my grandson who attented the camp"
    - Ken Hartley

"At PGC, I made friends, learned great things about basketball and life in general, and had a great time doing so. My voice got coarse and my body was often tired, but that’s just part of the game. I had some issues with the college campus, but all things PGC were great."
    - Teddy Halloran

"Best week. Demanded precision, eye contact, energy, and a championship environment. Changed me as a athlete, leader, and teammate. This course made me think the game in a whole new way and gave me elements to implement in my game!"
    - Darcy Kepner

"First, it was a boost personally. Coaches, like everyone else, get worn down over time. It was great to be around the PGC staff, other coaches, and a really motivated group of players. The how-you-learn stuff was great. There were numerous "one-percenters" to take away. They challenged my way of thinking on a few things. It was well worth the time, without a doubt the best $300 vacation ever. I have already recommended this to other coaches and parents of players. I was very impressed with three things relative to any camp I have seen before: 1. Zero wasted time. 2. Everything you all did was intentional, and most drills, etc. had multiple things you were trying to accomplish. 3. The focus on players coaching other players was excellent."
    - Mark Bogard

"PGC is one of the absolute best investments I have made in my son’s growth as a basketball player and as a young man. Each experience is different and excellent in its own way. The directors continue to impress and Chad is the ultimate role model."
    - Chuck Malani

"As a parent, I was able to see my son start to bloom not only in his game but as an individual. I saw a change before my eyes. It was nice to witness. As one of his high school coaches, I saw a student-athlete start to own it and figure out how to get those around him to come with him."
    - Katina Flournoy-Walker

"Best camp I go to and I’d come back a million times. Also one of the best way to improve your game on/off the court, you come out more confident, better as a player of the game and leader. This camp just makes you better as a player physically and mentally."
    - Peyton Gonzales

"I have attended many many classes over a 30 year career and this was one of the best I have attended. The Director was honest, helpful, and in command of the class at all times. The material was excellent and he was able to get the material to the students in a way all could understand. Excellent class."
    - Phillip Prevost

"This camp was my favorite camp yet, with all the connections i’ve made and all of the real life advice and experience i’ve learned from this week, i feel like this camp with impact my life more than any other camp i’ve been to."
    - Jack Ferrence

"I love coming to PGC. This is by far the best camp I have ever been to, I love getting to learn and think the game here with these amazing coaches. I will always remember all of the awesome people I get to meet here at these camps. The energy and encouragement that we all bring at these camps is remarkable."
    - Racie Decker

"This experience has changed my approach as a coach. As someone who is forever a student of the game, I couldn't stop smiling this week. The atmosphere behind 'SCHAPE' Principles is such a genius simplicity that will change the way in which I strive to impact my girls and prepare them for the next level/stages of their lives."
    - Tiffany Cantrell

"This was the best basketball experience I have ever had. I have been to so many basketball camps growing up, I played college basketball, and I have never seen anything like this. I was so thankful for the things that they taught, and know that the players that came from the school I coach at not only had fun, but learned an incredible amount about the game of basketball and life. I will be recommending this to everyone of my players so that they have the Chance to experience this as well. It will greatly help their lives, and greatly help our program! Very thankful for this opportunity. Thank you so much"
    - James Hayden

"PGC Grad school has been incredibly helpful for me as a player and person because of what we learned about in the classroom and from the experiences and discussion I had with the coaches who shared their wisdom and success with me"
    - Jonathan Sasson

"The best PGC course i’ve been to, I learned so much about mental aspect of basketball. This just made me realize that you have to practice the mental part of the game just like you do the shooting and ball handing."
    - Jake D’Auria

"I loved learning how to watch film. Furthermore, the competitions and energy everyone had throughout the session helped me get out of my shell a little bit."
    - Patricia Flores
