“I learned so much from Marke about things off and on the court, it literally changed my life!“ — Sara Jayne, PGC Grad
Marke Freeman attended PGC in the summer of 2010 entering her senior year in college.
During her senior year with the Northern Illinois Huskies, Freeman led the team in scoring at 18.8 points, five rebounds, four assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Marke received All-Mid-American Conference honors for the second straight season after finishing in the top 10 in the league in six different categories. That year, the Springfield, Illinois, native became only the third player ever from NIU to average at least 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals for her career joining two WNBA veterans while being ranked nationally in NCAA Division I in scoring 18.4 (21st), three pointers made per game 2.4 (14th) and steals per game 2.5 (6th).
After graduating from NIU, Freeman went on to play professionally with Tecza of Leszno, Poland, where she had an opportunity to compete against some of the best professional women’s basketball players in the world. At just 5’5”, she averaged 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, earning her Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the PLKK All-Star team.
Following her successful professional career, Marke joined the University of Missouri – Kansas City division I women’s basketball program, honing her coaching skills under the tutelage of her college coach. Marke was able to pass on her knowledge to the entire UMKC roster in charge of operations and player development.
Marke now serves as a core director for PGC and continues to pass on her knowledge of the game.

An Inside Look of Marke Teaching
What They’re Saying About MARKE
“It was cool that she had great energy and shared her experiences during her high school, college and professional playing career. She was all about helping us reach our aspirations. She was very helpful and learned all our names the 1st day. She is an awesome Director.”
– Jasen Engel, PGC Grad
“I was a male athlete at a PGC Essentials course at UCSB this past summer that Coach Marke Directed. The last day or two of camp she told me to stay focused and keep working. I made the varsity team following our session which was huge goal of mine. Thanks to the skills and encouragement she gave me.”
– Riley Scherr, PGC Grad
“Coach Marke, i just wanted to thank you for an INCREDIBLE experience at camp this previous week. I came in close minded and not really sure if basketball was what i wanted to still do, which led me to not fully appreciate the opportunity until the end of the camp. I am upset that it took me so long but i’m just so extremely happy that I did eventually realize that basketball is my passion. As you said in lecture some people experience “epiphanies” and I believe that is what happened to me. Anyways I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done and encourage you to keep on doing what you’re doing? you have truly changed my life.”
– Totyana, PGC Grad
“My daughter Peyton Elmore came to the Dallas Shooting College. She had a great time while also improving and getting better using the tools and instruction from Marke. She is not more confident than ever. Thank you very much for your time and effort with all the kids.”
– Heidi Elmore, Parent of PGC Grad
“Marke and her fellow coaches did an outstanding job covering a lot of material into a short amount of time. My fingers are still sore from taking notes. I am looking forward to incorporating the drills I learned into my team’s practice schedule.”
– David Floyd, PGC Observing Coach
“I appreciate the focus PGC puts on team culture and you for reiterating how important that is in laying the foundation for a successful program. I have never been on a team with a team covenant or individual commitment statements, but I certainly want my players to experience it.”
– Kristiann Holloway, PGC Observing Coach
“Coach Marke, just wanted you to know how much I thought of how well you taught this weekend, the first shooters college I went to Chad was the instructor, so you know the level of expectation I had for the course( lol) but your style was at a high level also( capisce). Really enjoyed it, and got a lot from your tutelage. You bring a lot to the PGC family.”
– J. Foley, PGC Observing Coach
“Marke – I wanted to thank you very much for running such a great camp – the players were exposed to the right way of doing things and the work ethic that they need to succeed in basketball and in life. I always think it’s great when a coach gets involved and the players see that they are willing to put in sweat equity along with them. My highlight of the camp was being able to work with some players to teach them some of the concepts you were going over on an individual basis. Those are the kinds of things that keep me motivated to keep helping players year after year.”
– Chris Goodrich, PGC Observing Coach
