For Cameron, the dream of playing college basketball was clear from a young age. As a freshman varsity starter at Robert C. Byrd High School in Clarksburg, West Virginia, his future on the court seemed limitless. However, adversity soon became a defining part of his journey. A broken wrist and torn ACL forced him to miss most of his sophomore season, yet he refused to let setbacks derail his ambitions. His resilience paid off—he returned to lead his team to an undefeated season before a state championship appearance, ultimately becoming the school’s all-time assists leader.
Determined to play at the next level, Cameron walked on at Concord University, where he continued to battle knee issues and took a medical redshirt his first year. A coaching change led him to transfer to Millsaps College, where he thrived, earning a starting role and serving as a team captain. His collegiate career included an MEC Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance—testaments to his perseverance and leadership.
Even as he pursued his own playing career, Cameron discovered a passion for coaching. During summers home from college, he dedicated himself to training younger athletes, sharing the hard-earned lessons he had learned through years of triumph and challenge. That passion led him to start his own basketball training business, working with players of all ages—from elementary school athletes to professionals. He also coached a successful AAU program, helping young athletes refine their skills and develop winning mindsets.
Cameron first attended PGC as a high school player and returned several times during college, drawn to the transformative experience of camp. After joining PGC as a coach, he quickly advanced to the role of coach trainer and is now a camp director. His journey, marked by resilience, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to growth, makes him the ideal mentor for young athletes.
Under Cameron’s guidance, players will not only develop elite-level skills but also gain the confidence, discipline, and perseverance needed to thrive in basketball and in life. Parents can trust that their child will be learning from a coach who has walked the path of adversity and emerged stronger—ready to inspire the next generation to do the same.
