Ryan Robie joined PGC as a Basket Instructor in 2017 and will be entering his fourth summer as a Director. As a first-year head coach Ryan was searching for great resources to improve what and how he taught the game. In 2015, he attended his first summer PGC/Glazier clinic as an observing coach and has been a believer ever since!
As an undersized guard, Ryan began playing basketball at an early age and had success playing at a 6A school that had a tradition of basketball in large part due to his ability to see and think the game as well as paint the floor on the defensive end.
Named All-Metro Coach of the Year in 2015-16 and UKC coach of the year in 2020, and recipient of the Eddie Ryan Kansas Coach of the Year in 2024, Ryan has served as the head women’s coach at De Soto High School in De Soto, KS for the past 9 seasons.. In his first two seasons as head coach, the team made it to the state tournament, a feat that had not been done at the school in over 30 years. His team has reached the state tournament in 5 of the 9 years he has led the program.
Coach Robie attended college at Kansas University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Education as well as his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. He is married to his wife Tracy and they have 3 children.
The quality people I have interacted with and learned from through PGC has inspired me to find more like-minded people that share a common passion for teaching the game of basketball and life! I’m excited to help SCHAPE other athletes and coaches as they pursue their goals both on and off the court.

"PGC camp was unlike any camp I ever been to it’s has me excited for my basketball season and also off the court moments where I’m able to show off the new me."
- Khameron Harvey
"I love how this camp not only teaches the boys about basketball but also just had to be good human beings and leaders on and off the court."
- Christina Stroff
"It is not easy being the coach of your own child. I have witnessed so much of his success as a leader of his team, yet I have also witnessed his struggles to find and maintain confidence. PGC echoed all of the advice I have given him over these past few years. I also have a roadmap on how to support and manage the mentality of my athletes. I have a better approach now to organizing, creating habits, and teaching fundamental techniques that make the game easier to play just by thinking about the details."
- Richard Dryden
"Observing how the directors organized and executed gym and classroom sessions was extremely valuable and will help me foster a more spirited and effective learning environment for my athletes."
