  • Dear PGC Family,

    Our hearts are troubled.

Like many of you, our leadership and staff are feeling sadness, outrage, and heartbreak.

At PGC, we stand for the dignity of every player, coach, and person. We always have and we always will.

We stand with our African American staff, directors, players, coaches, and families in the pursuit of freedom from systemic racism.

Let’s not forget, sports are a platform for change…

Sports have the ability to break down barriers in ways that few other things can. Basketball was a critical part of the civil rights movement and it’s still a platform today.

It’s not just pro players who have a platform though…

    We all have a voice.

And it’s our responsibility to take action.

If you aren’t sure how to take action, here are three simple things we can all do:

    1. Examine your heart. Do you show dignity and love in the way you treat and speak about others, especially those who are different from you?

    2. Get educated on systemic racism. A good starting place is the documentary 13th and the #1 New York Times best-selling book Just Mercy.

    3. Get to know others who are different from you. The beauty of sport is we play with and against those of different ethnicities and backgrounds. Take the time to get to know them — off the court. Invite them to dinner and learn about their culture. Ask questions and listen.

At PGC, our calling is to ‘be a light in the basketball world.’ As light shines into the darkness, our leadership team is in conversation around what more PGC can do to facilitate change.

Even in the midst of the pain all around us, we have hope

Hope that we will finally rise up as a society and say, ‘no more.’

Hope that we will take steps to eradicate systematic racism.

Hope that we will begin to embrace and love each other fully.

We are asking you, our PGC family, to join with us in shining light into the darkness.

Talk with your family and loved ones about what is happening in our world, and what you can do to make a difference.

Our PGC team will continue to find ways we can be part of the change that is needed…we hope you will join us.

    Together with you,

Mano, Tyler, Chad, TJ, Margie, Brett, and Sarita
    PGC Executive Leadership Team
