Today’s Monday Mindset: Insights from MJ’s Teammate
When I was in college, a teammate took me to go watch Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippin and the Chicago Bulls play.
Now, he was friends with one of the Bulls players, so after the game we hung out and to my surprise, this player was frustrated with his lack of playing time.
Even though he was playing 10 to 12 minutes a game on a championship team and had a front row seat to watch Michael Jordan play every single night, I was amazed, but I realized that there’s always a reason to be unhappy.
You can be unhappy about your playing time. If you’re getting playing time, unhappy that you’re not getting more playing time or you’re not the star player.
If you’re the star player, you can be unhappy that your teammates aren’t good enough. Always reasons to be unhappy. Same with your life and work. Unhappy with your responsibilities, your role, what you’re being paid.
There’s always things that you can be unhappy about. So you have to choose to be happy in your situation wherever you’re at. You can still choose not to be satisfied and to want more for tomorrow, but you got to be happy with today.
It’s a key to being able to enjoy every single day of your life. Be happy with where you’re at, even if you want more for tomorrow. Put that into practice.
That’s my challenge, and that’s your Monday Mindset.
