3 Ways to Tame Pre-Game Jitters in the Postseason
DEAR COACH: How do I not get nervous before a big game which causes me not to play as well as I can? How do I not get nervous?
DEAR JOEL: First off, you should feel grateful you’re in a position to feel these nerves. A lot of people go through life never being nervous because they don’t care to be successful at anything. So when you feel those nerves, pause and have a moment of gratitude.
Second, trust in all the work you’ve done to prepare for your games!
If you’ve put in the hard work ahead of time, just go out there and give it your best. Control the controllables and let the pieces fall where they may.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to mess up.
Failure is a prerequisite for greatness, and true champions embrace the fact that nothing worth having in life comes easy.
Michael Jordan once said…
“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.”
Print this quote out and tape it to your wall, write it on your basketball in Sharpie, or simply repeat it to yourself in the mirror every morning so you can develop a champion’s mindset.
Oh, and one last thing…
Remember to have fun too!
And speaking of having fun…
It’s been really exciting to watch the over 10,000 player registrations come flying in over the past 3 weeks for our 2025 summer basketball camps but I’m worried for players like your child who might miss out if you wait much longer to get registered.
25 of our most popular camps have less than 10 spaces left.
Some have already sold out…
And at this pace, nearly every camp will be sold out in no time.
If you’d like to avoid the waitlist and register your child before it’s too late, simply click the link below to find a location near you:
