    BASKETBALL TIP
Momentum is a real part of the game of basketball. And for this reason, it makes sense to respond to momentum.

If your team is “hot,” go with it, keep the pressure on, keep shooting, let the game flow. But don’t let the game roll along when the other team is getting the best of the flow.

A good rule of thumb: When the other team scores two consecutive baskets, slow down the game, throw more passes and keep them on defense longer until the momentum breaks.

A running-gunning game may be your specialty, but if you’ve missed twice and the other team has scored, you need some change in the rhythm of the game.

    LEADERSHIP LESSON
“There’s a Zen saying I often cite that goes, “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”

The point: Stay focused on the task at hand rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.”

    – Phil Jackson

    LIFE PRINCIPLE
“Perhaps the best term to describe living at the edge of our ability, thriving and flourishing, being challenged but not overwhelmed, is simply “whelmed.”

And a key part of being whelmed lies in being selective in our commitments, which means taking on the challenges that really speak to you and that emerge from an awareness of your deepest values.”

    – Susan David
