  • Today’s Monday Mindset: Don’t Get Married

    I think this is a really important principle, and it’s one I’ve tried to put into place…

    and that’s to not get married.

    And it’s not what you think.

    I don’t mean don’t get married in life but don’t get married to your outcomes to the goals you have.

    It’s not to say we shouldn’t have goals or that we shouldn’t work towards achieving them. We should believe and expect the realization of our goals.

    But if you get so tightly bound to your goals that you’re completely disillusioned or depressed when they don’t materialize, you’re probably putting undue stress on yourself.

    This will actually shortcut and sabotage the likelihood of them becoming a reality.

    So what you want to hold in tension is totally believing, totally working towards your goals AND totally surrendering the outcome.

    When you do this, you actually free yourself up to being the best you can be.

    When I finally got to the point where I could hold that tension in my basketball career, all of a sudden my success just skyrocketed.

    So that’s what I’d encourage you to do.

    Don’t be married to your outcomes.

    PGC Basketball provides intense, no-nonsense basketball training for players and coaches. Our basketball camps are designed to teach players of all positions to play smart basketball, be coaches on the court, and be leaders in practices, games and in everyday life.
