On Great Plays, Questions to Ask, and Going First
Jan. 13 | The 3-Point Play
BASKETBALL TIP
Beware of “great plays.”
Great plays, or the attempt to make great plays, are what make good players mediocre.
Ignore fancy and value fundamental.
Make the smart play, not the hard one.
Don’t go crazy when simple will work just fine.
LEADERSHIP LESSON
Three things you must ask yourself before saying anything:
- Does this need to be said?
- Does this need to be said by me?
- Does this need to be said by me right now?
– Craig Ferguson
LIFE PRINCIPLE
I always say that I’ll go first…
That means if I’m checking out at the store, I’ll say hello first.
If I come across somebody and make eye contact, I’ll smile first.
I wish people would experiment with that in their life a little bit. Be first, because – not all times, but most times – it comes in your favor.
– Gabby Reece (pro volleyball player)
