On Simple Plays, Futuristic Thinking, and Cutting Entitlement Loose
Apr. 13 | The 3-Point Play
BASKETBALL TIP
A 2-on-1 is an advantage situation. Situations like these don’t require great plays.
And not only do they not require great plays, a great play shows the coach that the player used poor judgment.
The best way to win is by learning to do simple things simply.
Advantage fast breaks are not complex. Don’t treat them as if they are.
LEADERSHIP LESSON
“Many people in the world see events as they are; leaders are different in that they see things that could be. And the future they see is always a better version of the present. We believe we can make a difference; we think we can make the world, or at least our part of it, better. Leaders are generally more optimistic than nonleaders.”
– Mark Miller
LIFE PRINCIPLE
“It won’t always go your way, so you can’t get trapped in this idea that just because you’ve imagined a possibility for yourself that you somehow deserve it. Your entitled mind is dead weight. Cut it loose. Don’t focus on what you think you deserve.
Take aim on what you are willing to earn!”
– David Goggins
