Drop the Comparison

Today’s Monday Mindset: Drop the Comparison
When I was in college, I tried out for Team Canada and there was this dude who could just flat out play.
His name was Shane Bosco, and he was so smooth that when I thought about how I played and then watched him play, it made me not even want to get on the court.
That’s how smooth he was.
I’ve heard this quote, comparison is the thief of all joy, and it’s true because it definitely stole some of my joy when I compared myself to him.
And what I had to learn over my basketball career and in my life is that it’s not fair to compare.
We all have different skills, opportunities, abilities, gifts, and strengths and weaknesses.
And rather than comparing, the best thing we can do is just do the best with what we’ve been given.
When I learned how to do that in my basketball career, it gave me greater joy and greater peace.
My challenge to you, whether it is in your playing or in your life, is drop your comparisons.
That’s your Monday Mindset.
