  • The Green Light Drill is designed to help shooters develop rhythm, build consistency, and maximize efficiency from their favorite spots on the floor. The drill focuses on footwork, target focus, and quick decision-making, preparing players for both practice and game-time situations.

The emphasis is on finding your most comfortable shooting stance, locking in with your target eye, and maintaining a fast pace while keeping a streak of successful makes. Rebounders also get valuable practice with tracking the ball and staying engaged throughout the drill.

    1. Find Your Spot & Shoot

Shooters select their most efficient spot on the floor and aim to take as many shots as possible in a set two-minute period. The goal is to find the rhythm and consistency of your shot from your comfort zone.

    • Focus on your target eye every rep
    • Maintain consistent footwork for each shot
    • Maximize makes within the time limit

    2. Rebound & Communicate

Rebounders are instructed to hustle, catch every ball, and call out the shooter’s name. This ensures continuous motion and engagement, while helping shooters maintain their rhythm without interruptions.

    • Develop a nose for the basketball
    • Prevent the ball from hitting the floor
    • Support shooter focus and pace

    3. Lock In & Track Streaks

Shooters are encouraged to count makes and aim for streaks to reinforce focus, rhythm, and confidence under pressure. This adds an element of game-like accountability to every rep.

    • Track consecutive makes to build confidence
    • Focus on quick, precise footwork
    • Train under a fast-paced, competitive rhythm

Overall, the Green Light Drill teaches players to create rhythm, maintain focus, and execute efficiently. By combining comfortable footwork, targeted focus, and continuous shooting, players are better prepared for both practice and real-game situations.
