  • Today’s Monday Mindset: The Power of Names

So I was getting on the subway and this homeless guy sitting on the ground saw him, decided to just greet him and say hello… And a moment later I asked him what his name was.

He said it was Stacy, but I think he was so touched that I asked his name and he jumped up to meet me and greet me and I shook his hand and we had a great conversation and brought some fruit that we gave to him.

Reminded me of the power of name.

Somebody hearing their name being said, it doesn’t have to be a homeless person, the next time you have a server at a restaurant ask their name and then use their name.

Every time I go to the gym, if I play basketball with others I don’t know, I ask their names and use their names.

Look for opportunities to use people’s names… it shows you care, it makes them feel seen, it makes them feel special. I know it did for Stacy just a few moments ago. So use people’s names.

That’s my challenge, and that’s your Monday Mindset.
