Show Up

Today’s Monday Mindset: Show Up
I just got back from my alma mater, the University of Waterloo, where there was a special tribute taking place for the former athletic director who I had played under and then coached under. She had such a positive impact on my career.
So, when I received the invitation to go for this special tribute, I thought, “I definitely want to be there. I want to show up for her because she had showed up for me in many different ways over the course of my playing and coaching career.”
My challenge to you is a simple one. It’s to show up for others when they need you most.
Whether it’s helping a friend move, going to a wedding, mourning with someone, being there to celebrate a friend’s birthday, or even just reaching out to a friend, show up for others.
It has a profound impact on others when you go out of your way to show up and give over your time to be present regardless of what it’s for.
And so my challenge to you is show up for others. You’ll be better for it.
I certainly was today. I had the chance to see former coaches, former players, long time mentors. It was just a beautiful afternoon that only happened when I choose to show up for others.
Put it into practice.
That’s your Monday Mindset.
