“Watching my teammates get better faster made me feel like I sucked and really hurt my confidence. ”
— A PGC Grad Story —
By Annie Dawson (PGC Grad)
Since I can first remember, my whole life has revolved around basketball.
It always has been and always will be.
From an early age, I was never the most talented kid on the floor but I was a hard worker with a huge heart.
Over the years I watched my teammates get better at a much faster pace than me and that was really hard. It honestly made me feel like I sucked and it was a huge blow to my confidence. But I wanted it – badly – so I knew something had to change.
I was first introduced to PGC Basketball Camps by my high school coach. He was adamant that I attend, and was confident that this could be the place that would help transform me into becoming a great leader…
…and he couldn’t have been more right.
I attended my first PGC camp the summer after freshman year and from that point forward, everything changed.
It was an experience unlike anything I’d ever seen or even knew existed.
There were so many players, all in one place, that wanted to live and breathe the game of basketball – just like me.
The energy and intensity on and off the court was unmatched.
I had never felt more supported, by anyone, the way I felt supported by the athletes and coaches at PGC that week.
Going into my sophomore year I knew I wanted to play college ball.
I worked tirelessly day in and day out to perfect my craft.
The summer before my junior year, I played AAU ball and traveled the country showcasing my talent weekend after weekend.
I was finally confident in myself, in my game, and in the direction I was headed in life.
I couldn’t be more grateful for the things I’ve learned at PGC. They have helped me grow my game in so many different ways.
But most importantly, that experience changed my life.
My name is Annie Dawson, I’m a 2x PGC grad, and that’s my PGC story.
