On Time and Score, Engaging Your Critics, and Your Commitment of Being
June 22 | The 3-Point Play
BASKETBALL TIP
You should know the time and the score at all times. Look up every time the clock is stopped and make sure it sinks in.
What is the time? What is the score?
Both of these questions should pop to your attention every time the whistle blows.
Before you wonder who traveled or who the foul was called on and before you frown (if the call is on you), check the score and time.
LEADERSHIP LESSON
“We learn more from people who challenge our thought process than those who affirm our conclusions.
Strong leaders engage their critics and make themselves stronger.
Weak leaders silence their critics and make themselves weaker.
This reaction isn’t limited to people in power. Although we might be on board with the principle, in practice we often miss out on the value of a challenge network.”
– Adam Grant
LIFE PRINCIPLE
“Reach out, share your truth, tell someone, “This is who I am. This is what I stand for. Hold me to it.”
Often, we’ll do far more for another than we will do for ourselves.”
– Kamal Ravikant
