On when to try new stuff, the secret to being wrong, and taking the first step
January 4 | The 3-Point Play
BASKETBALL TIP
Games are not the place to try out new stuff.
Games are the place to use things you have worked on and repeated over and over again in practice.
When you use a defense in a game it is only new to the fans and, hopefully, to the other team.
It better not be new to you, also.
LEADERSHIP LESSON
“The secret of being wrong isn’t to avoid being wrong! The secret is being willing to be wrong. The secret is realizing that wrong isn’t fatal. The only thing that makes people and organizations great is their willingness to be not great along the way. The desire to fail on the way to reaching a bigger goal is the untold secret of success.”
– Seth Godin
LIFE PRINCIPLE
“Think of what you’ve achieved that didn’t seem possible last year, or five years ago, or ten; it didn’t seem possible then but you’ve proven that it was. Now imagine what might be possible in another year or five or ten.
Ask yourself what you would do if you had an unlimited supply of both courage and hope. Now begin answering that question with action. Take one step today—then repeat, repeat, repeat.”
– Maggie Smith
