    BASKETBALL TEACHING
Nearly all mediocre players are great at finding excuses – alibis – for their failures.

But placing blame and making alibis is really just a bad habit.

Good players lose this habit and learn not to look for alibis.

Good players develop a habit of mind whereby they look inward for improvement and do not fear accepting responsibility when they are at fault.

Good players embrace adversity and the opportunity to overcome it. And they certainly don’t waste time making excuses because they are too busy thinking up ways to move onward and upward.

    LIFE LESSON
“When setting expectations, no matter what has been said or written, if substandard performance is accepted and no one is held accountable — if there are no consequences — that poor performance becomes the new standard.”

    – Jocko Willink

    EDUCATIONAL TIP
Bored in class? Shift your perspective.

It’s not the subject’s or teacher’s responsibility to excite you, it’s your responsibility to find ways to get excited.

It’s your responsibility to extract something interesting from subjects that initially seem boring. Learning to find excitement should be recognized as one of the primary purposes of school.

The presence of boredom usually indicates the ignorance of the person who is bored, not the lack of exciting content within the subject itself.
