On your approach to hard work, cleaning the cobwebs, and the disease of “someday”
BASKETBALL TIP
When you are out on the court, is it clear to everyone looking on that you are intensely going about something you consider very important?
You gotta play and practice with an attitude. You can’t just go through the motions.
Everything about your approach to what you are doing has to say “This matters, this is important, I care, and hey, want to see intensity at work?”
LEADERSHIP LESSON
“Sometimes the biggest gain in productive energy will come from cleaning the cobwebs, dealing with old business, and clearing the desks—cutting loose debris that’s impeding forward motion.”
– David Allen
LIFE PRINCIPLE
“For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks. Waiting for a good time to quit your job? The stars will never align and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. The universe doesn’t conspire against you, but it doesn’t go out of its way to line up the pins either.
Conditions are never perfect. “Someday” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it’s important to you and you want to do it “eventually,” just do it and correct course along the way.”
– Timothy Ferriss
