"I don't have to be the fastest kid to hand out buckets"
— A PGC Grad Story —
By Dylan Kurt (PGC Grad)
All I ever wanted was to be unguardable.
But it was hard because I’m slow, unathletic, and have had multiple knee injuries.
After going to PGC Basketball camps, I learned the importance of the mental side of the game. Not only that, I learned how to be a true “student of the game.”
Which taught me something I never would have known — “playing smart” on the court can accelerate your game at an unimaginable pace.
I found I don’t have to be the fastest kid with the most bounce to hand out buckets. I remember being at camp and hitting 57 three’s in a challenging 4 minute shooting drill.
I remember passing the ball up to (Duke commit) Jaden Schutt who threw down two monster dunks everyone at camp talked about at dinner that night.
Yes, PGC impacted my game. But more than that, PGC changed how I think about the game and life.
I used to be a person whose sole focus was on the outcome — winning games. I used to think embracing the student aspect of the game was only for nerds.
But now, I focus on the process more and the outcome less. I’m proud to say, I’m a nerd when it comes to learning the game.
I’m Dylan Kurt — an aspiring college basketball player and professional writer — and that’s my PGC story.
