Today’s Monday Mindset: Be a Mechanic
Be a mechanic.
Every good mechanic is good at fixing things and repairing things. You need to be good in your life at fixing and repairing things as well.
Specifically relationships, because things go wrong and gaps happen, whether it’s a friend, a teammate, a coworker, a family member. You got to get good at fixing and repairing relationships when things go off-site or go wrong.
Here are three things you can do to fix and repair any relationship.
The first is you got to own it.
You got to own your stuff. Figure out in every miscommunication, in every unfulfilled expectation, in every gap, there’s something to own. Figure out what you can own and own it.
The second is apologize.
The words “I’m sorry” or “Will you forgive me?” are so powerful.
And then the third to help restore is to commit to how you’re going to be different.
What are you going to do differently going forward? What can they count on you for?
Own it. Apologize. And recommit.
Do those three things and you’ll be well on your way to repairing or at least doing the best you can to repair any relationship.
That’s my challenge and that’s your Monday Mindset.
