For the first time in 7 years, I had no team
— Coach Story —
By Chuck Malani (Coach)
It hurt — bad.
For the first time in 7 years, I had no team to coach.
And the worst part is, I didn’t leave on my own terms. My head coach moved on and the school’s new AD chose to clean house and start fresh.
This was painful. Still is.
With my former team, I was the glue guy — doing all the stuff to make the program run smooth. I took tasks off our head coaches plate so he could better lead. I looked outward and coached others to the best of my ability.
But now, it’s time to do that for someone else — myself.
It’s time for the coach to get some coaching. That’s where PGC comes in.
PGC helped me see further beyond the game, in new and dynamic ways. Sure, PGC is fantastic, teaching complex on – court skills in a clear & concise way.
But it’s the mental approach to basketball and life that struck me. Through PGC coaching, I know I will be a better coach when the next opportunity presents itself. I’m feeling confident again. I’m feeling excited again.
And I’ll close with this. I have succeeded over and over in the game because I build relationships with people, serve them and always show up.
Now it’s time to apply that inward and build for new successes.
Thank you PGC!
