Today’s Monday Mindset: How to Manage Stress – part 1
Welcome to your Monday Mindset where you discover how to be your best so you can give your best.
I’ve been asked often “how do you handle the stress of work and life”? What I’d like to share with you is half a dozen different things I do as stress relieving or stress coping mechanisms.
So let me bang through this list really quickly.
1. Morning Routine – The first thing that I do, every single day is my morning routine. So I have a slow start to my day in which I read, I journal, I pray, I think.
2. Get Outside for Grounding – Then I get outside. And as often as possible, not only do I get outside in nature, but I get outside in nature in my bare feet, it’s called grounding. So my body is actually touching the earth. In fact, I love to actually sit down on the ground and have my hands on the ground as well, or even lie back and look at the sky and admire God’s amazing creation and the beauty all around me.
3. Drink Lots of Water – Yes, drinking lots of water, being hydrated can help reduce stress because you’re setting yourself up. You’re setting your body up to be at its best.
4. Exercise – I do my best to exercise daily, even if it’s just one of my four minute Tabata workouts, gets me sweating and sweating and exercising is a tremendously beneficial stress reducing activity.
5. Sleep Well – I make sure, and I’m religious about this, I’m getting a good night’s sleep. Nothing will increase your stress levels, like not getting enough sleep and not being rested so you can be at your best.
Those are several of the things I do to manage stress. We can’t avoid stress, but we can get better at dealing with the stress in our lives.
Put some of those into practice and you’ll be ready to conquer each day.
