  • Today’s Monday Mindset: Keep It In Perspective

We just finished a 30 minute visit with a woman that my mom has gotten to know who fled Ukraine with her husband and her daughter. They’re from Kyiv, and she was just sharing the trauma they’ve experienced. And it was heart-wrenching to hear of everything they’ve endured.

They still have family there. Her brother has enlisted in the Army. And now, they’re moving from Canada because they can’t afford rent and can’t stay any longer. So they’re going to Spain where it’s cheaper.

And I was just really touched. Touched probably isn’t even the right word. I admired her courage and what they’ve been able to survive. And also, reminded of the challenges in our own lives that are so easy to get wrapped up in.

I was reminded to keep it in perspective because there are others around the world and in countries like Ukraine who are going through unthinkable, unspeakable challenges.

Even as she moves to Spain, her husband is going to have to go away for six months, and then home for two months, and then gone for six months just to be able to pay for them to survive and live.

And so whatever you’re going through today, not to diminish the challenges we have that are predominantly first world problems, not to diminish those in the least because they’re real and we feel them, but to keep it in perspective, whatever you’re experiencing today, to keep it in perspective of what others are experiencing in different countries in the world. And if you do that, I think you’ll be filled with gratitude and perspective.

    So keep it in perspective.

    That’s your Monday Mindset.
