Today’s Monday Mindset: Take Care of Those Who…
I’m here with my main man, Coach Jack. Coach Jack and I have been together for a long time. Coach Jack started coaching me when I was 10 years old, attending basketball camps in the summer, in my hometown. And then when I was 16 and started camps in my parents’ backyard. I brought Jack in to come coach and stay with our family for the week and coach at those camps. Jack has now been coaching with me for over 30 years, we have a 35 year friendship.
Jack took such good care of me when I was growing up, inspired me, got me hooked on the game of basketball that I do everything possible to try and return the favor, because I think it’s a great life principal to take care of those who have taken care of you.
And so we’re down south here at our PGC Basketball staff retreat. We’ve been down here for the last four or five days and wanted Jack to come experience this. He has been on multiple trips with us over the years. So Jack’s come to know our PGC staff just in the same way he knows our family because Jack is family. I’m so grateful for Jack.
So, my challenge to you is a simple one. Who are the people in your life, it might be teachers, coaches, family, friends, family members that have taken care of you over the years that you can then in turn find ways to take care of?
It might be something as simple as writing a letter, sending them a note of appreciation, sending them a text, doing something small for them.
Or maybe at times you might even have the opportunity to do something even bigger for them the way I’ve attempted to, with Jack. Because there’s not enough I can do for Jack for what he’s done for me over the years. I know one of the reasons I fell in love with the game was because of his passion for the game. And this is just my small way of taking care of someone who is taking such good care of me.
That’s my challenge to you.
Take care of those who’s taking care of you.
That’s your Monday Mindset.
