Today’s Monday Mindset: Do You Work Hard or Compete?
A lot of players complain that coaches don’t reward them for their efforts and their hard work, but coaches don’t reward effort.
They reward players who get results, who compete.
What’s the difference between hard work and competing?
Competing is taking an action to gain an advantage.
It’s not just enough to go for the rebound. You need to cut another player off or get in front of them to gain the advantage to actually get the rebound.
Same in work. It’s not just enough to do your job. You need to get results in your job.
It’s not enough just to study. You need to study the right things and do everything you can to prepare to get the results with your tests in school.
So don’t just work hard.
Compete. Take actions to gain an advantage.
That’s how you stand out. That’s how you get rewarded for your efforts.
That’s my challenge, and that’s your Monday Mindset.
