On not fouling, having a negative attitude, and finding fulfillment
December 5 | The 3-Point Play
BASKETBALL TIP
Players often fail to realize that fouls are errors. Not just because five of them will put you on the bench, but because they allow mediocre players to score points on uncontested 15-foot shots.
When you foul, you are in the habit of thinking, Oh well, that’s only my first, or It’s early in the game, instead of, I just gave them two points.
Don’t be smug simply because it isn’t obvious to the fans that you gave those points that eventually lost the game.
Good players know the importance of not fouling.
LEADERSHIP LESSON
“People with negative attitudes don’t have a learner’s heart.
Dumping such individuals off your team will hurt in the short run, but not in the long run.
You have to remember that star performers with an attitude put a constant drag on everyone else. The price you pay for their performance is constant agitation.
People with negative attitudes can’t help but stir the pot.”
– Kevin Leman
LIFE PRINCIPLE
“It is okay to take your time. We live in a generation that romanticizes moving forward as quickly as possible when it comes to careers and our futures and our success within them. But there is no point in rushing quickly towards a life that will not inspire you or fulfill you.”
– Bianaca Sparacino
