    BASKETBALL TIP
PREP = Prime REceiving Position – a place you should never be unless you are wide open for a pass.

Anytime two players stand in prime receiving position but are not open, a turnover is very likely to result, either from a risky pass, a double-team, a five- second call, or any other number of bad-risk possibilities.

If the player with the ball has to wonder whether or not you are open, you are not open. Leave. Get out fast. Let your teammate throw to someone who is running to the ball.

    LEADERSHIP LESSON
“Hearing is passive. Listening is active. The best listeners focus their attention and recruit other senses to the effort. Their brains work hard to process all that incoming information and find meaning, which opens the door to creativity, empathy, insight, and knowledge. Understanding is the goal of listening, and it takes effort.”

    – Kate Murphy

    LIFE PRINCIPLE
“Deep practice feels a bit like exploring a dark and unfamiliar room. You start slowly, you bump into furniture, stop, think, and start again. Slowly, and a little painfully, you explore the space over and over, attending to errors, extending your reach into the room a bit farther each time, building a mental map until you can move through it quickly and intuitively.”

    – Daniel Coyle
