Do You Need to Speak Up?

Today’s Monday Mindset: Do You Need to Speak Up?
What do you need to speak up on that you’ve been burying because you don’t want to rock the boat, offend somebody, or get somebody else into trouble, or just because you want to avoid conflict?
Here’s the two harms that you do when you don’t speak up.
The first is harm to yourself because you don’t let yourself get whole and complete with the other person and give the opportunity for the relationship to be restored.
But then secondly, it harms others because the person who is the perpetrator doesn’t know they’ve done wrong if you don’t bring it to light for them.
If you don’t make them aware of how they offended you or how they went offside with somebody else, they’re likely going to do the same to many others.
So it’s actually a gift to give that person the feedback with truth and grace.
Even if they don’t change, even if they don’t receive it, at least you’ve done it for the benefit of them and the benefit of others and for the chance at restoring your relationship.
So my challenge to you is be daring and courageous and bold and be willing to have the necessary conversation even when it’s hard.
You’ll be glad you did. You’ll grow from it and you’ll stretch and learn from it as well.
So speak up, that’s my challenge, and that’s your Monday Mindset.
