Today’s Monday Mindset: It’s Good to Be Nervous
Presented by: Mano Watsa, President of PGC Basketball Camps
“Don’t be nervous.”
That’s what people say when you’re about to play in a big game, or get on a stage and speak in front of hundreds of people.
Years ago, I realized instead of trying to push away nervousness, which only makes you feel even more jittery and makes your palms more sweaty, the opposite is an even better.
Just welcome nervousness, embrace it even.
What does nervousness mean?
It means that what you’re about to do matters to you. It’s important for you. And nervousness in your body, just like stress, is actually your body’s way of preparing you to rise to the occasion.
So the next time you’re feeling nervous, just welcome it.
Take a deep breath and allow that nervousness to go right through your body, and it’ll exit out and you’ll be able to perform at your best.
When you don’t try and push it away, but you embrace it and you smile because you know you’re about to take on something that matters to you.
Your nervousness or stress is your way of your body rising to the occasion to prepare you to be at your best.
Welcome nervousness.
That’s your Monday Mindset.
