Monday Mindset: How to Deal with Frustrations
We’ve all been there. We experience it in all different realms in life.
In fact, I was just shooting a video for some of our staff just a few minutes ago and take after take, after take, there was either an interruption, a sound in the background, or I just had trouble getting the right words out. I had to re-shoot it over and over again.
How do you move on from a setback or push through adversity? How about what happens when you feel like a failure in the most productive way possible?
In other words, how do you deal with frustration? It’s an inevitable part of life.
At PGC Basketball, we teach a simple concept called The two clap. One clap is usually just out of angst or frustration on the basketball court. If you see a player slam a ball down or just clap their hands, it’s just an expression of frustration.
But a two clap changes your perspective. It moves you to a what’s next. It’s hard to actually two clap and still be frustrated.
So the next time you have a frustrating situation like I had having to re-shoot the video over and over again, just give yourself a two clap and move on.
This is one of the best things you can do to change not only your mind, but actually change your body. When you change yourself physiologic, you change yourself psychologically, and propel yourself to move forward.
So give yourself a two clap and watch the change it creates.
