  • Today’s Monday Mindset: How to Feel Completely Unfulfilled

In today’s Monday Mindset I want to share with you the easiest way to feel completely unfulfilled in anything you do. And it’s really simply this…

    Focus on yourself.
Focus on what’s not working for you.
Focus on your needs, your challenges, your desires, make it all about you.

When you do that, you’ll find you’ll feel highly unfulfilled. Why? Because we were designed for more than that.

We were designed to be loved and to love.
We were designed to impact others.
We were designed to make a difference in other people’s worlds.

And if you choose to just focus all of your time and energy on yourself – what’s going well and what’s not going well, and your happiness and what’s leaving you unhappy – it’s a guaranteed way to feel unfulfilled.

    So what’s the alternative.

The alternative is simply to take on and to embrace an outward mindset. An outward mindset in which you focus on the needs, the challenges, and the desires of others.

Those around you, your family, your friends, your team teammates, your coworkers, whoever it may be, put your focus on them.

I see it all the time with athletes.

On the basketball court, I see players who are going through shooting slumps. They’re not playing well. They’re frustrated. They’re disappointed at their lack of performance, and they want to change and they get so wrapped up in themselves and they can’t break through.

The easiest way to breakthrough is to change your focus, to take it off yourself, and to focus on teammates and what their challenges and what their struggles are.

You have a teammate who’s not playing well, to encourage them and pick them up. You have a teammate going through their shooting slump, you help them find ways to get better.

Whatever it may be when you cast your gaze on others instead of your own problems, instead of your own challenges, your own needs, your own desires. When you put it on the needs, challenges, and desires of others, not only will you have an impact positively on others, but you’ll find you’ll feel far more fulfilled.

And as is the case with nearly any athlete, when you put your gaze on others and focus with an outward mindset on others, you actually elevate your own performance at the same time.

You free yourself to actually be at your very best.

So embrace an outward mindset – that’s the easiest way to be fulfilled and to be everything that you’re capable of being.
