  • Today’s Monday Mindset: How to Get Better at Anything

In today’s Monday Mindset, I want to share with you how you can get significantly better at anything that you want to grow and improve in.

I’m in front of my kids’ violins here, because my kids have been violinists from the time they were three or four years old, and they learned a simple principle that helped them over a period of years, become really proficient with their violin.

It’s very simply this, do a little bit every day. That was the principle.

Their violin instructor and teachers would tell them, “Look, you don’t have to practice for hours every day, but the one principle is simply this, pick up the violin every day.”

    Let me say that again.

Pick up the violin every day or whatever it is that you want to improve upon. If you want to learn a second language, if you want to improve in a sport, if you want to grow in an area of knowledge or expertise – you got to do something every day.

I watched my kids pick up the violin every day for five, 10 or 15 minutes.

Over a period of time, you benefit from the compounding interest of improvement. So put that into practice with something that you want to get significantly better at.

Don’t try and transform yourself in a day, or even a week, or even a month.

We overestimate what we can accomplish in a short period of time and we vastly under estimate what we can accomplish in an extended period of time.

So, set your heights high over the long term by simply doing something small every day. And that’s your Monday Mindset.
