  • Today’s Monday Mindset: Self Talk

Presented by: Mano Watsa, President of PGC Basketball Camps

If someone was to record all your inner dialogue, your inner thoughts, what would they hear?

Would they hear positive self-talk or negative? Soft self-talk?

How we talk to ourselves matters, and most of us aren’t really conscious of just how negatively we’re talking to ourselves.

So my challenge to you is a simple one.

Get a pen and a notebook, and from today on, or at least for a week as an experiment, write down every negative thought you have about yourself, others in the world.

Just put it to a paper each new day so that you can track exactly what you’re saying to yourself.

And here’s what I can promise you. If you’re saying negative things to yourself in school, sports, or life, you’re hurting yourself and you’re hurting your potential.

It’s absolutely imperative – it’s critical that we learn to talk to ourselves better. And the best way to learn to talk to yourself better is to, identify what you’re actually saying to yourself.

Then write it down, you’ll start to catch yourself and you can start to replace what you’re saying to yourself with more positive things.

You can speak to your potential instead of speaking to why something isn’t gonna work out, or the things you worry about or the things you’re fearful of.

Write down your thoughts each day and then begin to replace them.

    Talk to yourself better.

That’s my challenge for you, and that’s your Monday Mindset.
