  • Today’s Monday Mindset: This Will Be a Lasting Memory

On this week’s Monday Mindset episode President of PGC Basketball Camps, Mano Watsa, tells us a story of a memorable night out in Israel.

So we’re here in Jerusalem, we’ve been here for the past seven to 10 days, and we’re in our very last night.

We’re at this high-end restaurant and this happened.

Out of nowhere, this not only rainstorm but hailstorm hits and we’re sitting at this table right here. And as you can see, that water coming down, that’s not water from the inside, that’s water from the outside. The roof began to leak in multiple places right on our table, and this is our very last night in Jerusalem.

And anytime you have something unexpected happen, it’s easy to feel like your best-laid plans have been spoiled, but so often, don’t those things turn into some of the best memories that you laugh about months or years later?

So the next time you have something that you’ve planned or anticipated and it doesn’t come to life the way you had hoped for, instead of letting your emotions get the better of you and just feeling like your enjoyment has been dashed, why not take the perspective, right now, in the moment, that this will be a lasting memory?

And if you can take a missed plane flight or rain coming in on your table on your last night at a really nice restaurant, if you can say to yourself, “This will be a lasting memory,” it’ll allow you to be able to not laugh months and years later, but to laugh even in the moment and say, “What an experience,” and to actually even be able to cherish the moments that seem the toughest.

So that’s my challenge for you, that’s your Monday mindset. This will be a memory. It certainly will be for all of us here tonight.
