Three Things I Learned – Part 2
This is the second blog in a 3-part series on my key learnings from 2011.
Key Learning #2: Don’t try to convince people to attend PGC.
Sometime over the past two years we made a shift in how we presented PGC to the basketball world.
Up until that time, we let the program and what we offer speak for itself. We didn’t attempt to convince athletes or coaches to attend our sessions. We simply provided those interested in PGC with as much information as possible—along with testimonials of what others said about their PGC experience. Then, we left it to parents, athletes, and coaches to make an informed decision as to whether PGC was the right fit for them.
But, knowing that there were players and coaches missing out on a potential transformational experience with PGC, we shifted into trying to convince them—and you—of the benefits of attending our courses.
Upon reflection though, I realized promoting PGC in this way was not in line with how we want to present our programs, and it was likely even counterproductive.
We’ve now shifted back to the way we’ve always presented PGC, and we all feel good about it. We hope you do too. And, of course, I’m committed to ensuring that it stays that way.
Sincerely,
Mano Watsa, President
