  • Today’s Monday Mindset: Are you living out your priorities?

This is a really important follow up to last week’s video, Stop Trying to Find Balance.

In last week’s Monday Mindset, I talked about pulsing and not trying to find balance in your life. But there’s an important piece that I didn’t share which I need to share for you to think about. And that is simply priorities, because pulsing without priorities will just about kill you.

Priorities are what’s most important to you.

Here’s what I want you to think about and want to challenge you with today. Show me your calendar, and I’ll show you your priorities. What are you making time and space in your calendar and schedule for each week? This really determines what’s important to you.

We say our family’s important, or we say our faith, or our friends, or whatever it is, are most important to us. How does that show up in your day-to-day calendar?

When I was challenged by this, I really had to take a hard look especially in the early years when we were building PGC. Trying to find downtime in the midst of everything we were doing with PGC was just downright difficult. I went probably an extended period of time without really taking family holidays.

I realized what gets scheduled gets accomplished. And so here’s what I did. Very simply, I put it into my schedule.

What I realized was there was never a convenient time just to shut down and get away, not when you’re building and trying to accomplish something special. But when it gets scheduled, it gets accomplished. So, I put it into my schedule and built in twice a year. I’m taking the family away, whether it’s convenient or not, whether I can afford the time away or not. It did wonders for our family and for the experiences we enjoyed together as a family.

My challenge to you is very simply, what does your schedule look like? Take a look at your schedule and see if your schedule reflects your priorities.

Another example of this, is my faith. Faith is a critical part of my life, so every Sunday I don’t open my computer. I barely look at my phone. It’s a day for faith, for family and for time I’m with friends. And for me, it’s a way of honoring the Sabbath day.

Whatever it is for you, just take a look at your calendar, take a look at your schedule, and find out how are your priorities in line with what actually appears in your schedule?

Get your priorities right and it’ll allow you to pulse much better and much more effectively.

    And that’s your Monday Mindset.
