    University of Northern Iowa women’s basketball junior, Jacqui Kalin, has been named the 2011 Jackie Stiles MVC Player of the Year – becoming the first-ever Panther in league history to earn this award. Kalin is the league leader in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.6) and free throw percentage (.921), ranks third in scoring (15.1), seventh in three-point field goals made (1.8) and eighth in assists (3.1).

    Kalin helped UNI clinch it first-ever Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title in program history, as the Panthers finished the regular-season with a 24-5 overall record, including a 17-1 mark in league play, securing their best overall and conference records in school history. UNI is also currently riding a 16-game winning streak into the State Farm MVC Tournament, also its best string of consecutive wins in school history. She has recorded double-digit scoring efforts in all but two games this season, including 20 of the last 21 games. Kalin has a current streak of 39 consecutive free throws made, and her .921 free-throw percentage ranks third in NCAA Division I. She has dished out three or more assists while committing zero turnovers on eight occasions this season, and her 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks fourth in NCAA Division I.
